Calgary, Alberta · Fractional CTO & Technology Advisory
Your trusted technology advisor.
For startup founders and growing-business owners about to make a five- or six-figure technology decision with no one senior enough in the room to sanity-check the vendor pitching them.
A fractional CTO is a senior technology executive, part-time — strategy, security, and AI readiness, without the cost or commitment of a full-time hire.
30 minutes. No pitch. Just a straight conversation.

Named client testimonials — pending
This is deliberately empty. The rebuild brief calls for 3–5 named, linked testimonials with a specific numeric outcome — real name, real company, real LinkedIn link — or nothing at all. None of that exists yet for the Fractional CTO offer, so nothing fabricated has been put here. Swap this card for real client proof before this page goes live.
The Problem
You're making $50K+ technology bets on gut feel.
Nobody senior enough is in the room to sanity-check the vendor pitching you. Your IT contractor knows how to keep the lights on, not how to plan three years out. Big firms sell you complexity. Vendors sell you their product. And a full-time CTO costs $200K–$350K a year — money most startups and small businesses don't have to spend on a hire they only need part-time.
So the decisions get made anyway — on a sales rep's timeline, not yours.
How It Works
What happens after you book the call.
Pricing is discussed on the call, not published here — every engagement is scoped to what you actually need. Ask directly and you'll get a straight number, not a sales process.

Get to work
Advisory, forward deployed engineering (I embed and build), or a mix. You decide the engagement model.
Case Study
One engagement, walked through in full.
A scroll-driven before/after of a real technology decision — the assessment, the roadmap, and the outcome. Not a static PDF case study.
Read the Case StudyStatus
The interactive case study format is built and live at /case-study/. It currently runs on an illustrative example, clearly labeled as such, until a real client engagement is documented with permission and swapped in.
Why Kevin Evans
Platform engineer turned technology advisor.
My career started in infrastructure — racking servers in data centres, building platforms, and learning how systems actually work at the hardware level. From there I moved into architecting cloud platforms, then applications and AI. I don't just advise on technology — I've built it, across the full stack.
I've been on both sides of the table: the technology leader inside the organization making the decisions, and the trusted advisor helping clients get it right. No vendor agenda — I don't sell licenses or take referral fees.

This isn't for everyone.
This is for you if:
- You're building your first product and want the architecture right from day one
- You need a technical co-founder-level perspective without giving up equity
- You're running legacy systems and need a clear modernization roadmap
- You want an ongoing advisor, not a one-time report
This is not for you if:
- You already have a full-time CTO or VP Engineering making these calls
- You want someone to just execute a spec with zero pushback on strategy
- You're looking for the cheapest possible web developer, not a technology advisor
- You want a one-off audit and no ongoing relationship
